Big changes have arrived at Bodega 1830. This week we launched our brand-new Small Plates Menu, designed to bring more flavour, more variety, and more reasons to gather around a table. And leading the charge in our kitchen is Head Chef Steven McNamara — a familiar face to many of our regulars.
Steven cooked with us before, and now he’s back after honing his craft at two of Ireland’s top resorts: Lyrath Hotel and Fota Island Resort. He’s taken that experience and brought it home to Clonmel, shaping a menu that combines bold flavours with the relaxed, sharing style that Bodega is known for.
Gambas al Ajillo
Classic Spanish prawns in garlic-chili butter, with cherry tomato, chorizo, and a crouton to soak up every drop.
Confit Duck Leg
Slow-cooked duck with a blood orange reduction and braised chicory. Crisp, rich, and balanced with citrus.
Loaded Nachos
Barbeque beef piled high with smoked Applewood cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa — built for sharing.
Beef Cheek Tacos
Tender beef cheeks, slow-braised and served with bacon-onion jam, aioli, smoked cheese, and a drizzle of beef drippings. Deep, savoury comfort in a few bites.
Crispy Chicken Tenders
Golden fried, served with garlic mayo and a hit of Frank’s Hot Sauce. A crowd-pleaser with a Bodega twist.
Soft Shell Crab
Crispy crab, light and delicate, plated with tartar sauce and pickled cucumber for freshness.
Catalan Monkfish
One of the menu’s showstoppers. Butter-basted monkfish with romesco, nduja sauce, heirloom cherry tomatoes, burnt leek, and tarragon oil. Big flavours, perfectly balanced.
Curried Cauliflower (Vegan)
Cauliflower steak with apple gel, cauliflower purée, and toasted hazelnuts. A plant-based dish with depth and elegance.
8oz Sirloin Steak
For the first time ever, steak has landed on the Bodega menu. Chargrilled and served with chimichurri — simple, bold, and exactly what you want from a steak.
16oz Sharing Sirloin
Designed for two: chargrilled sirloin with tenderstem broccoli, onion rings, unlimited chips, chimichurri, and two premium desserts. A centrepiece dish for a night out.
Tapas and small plates are at the heart of Bodega 1830. They’re built for sharing, for variety, and for evenings that flow. With Steven’s new menu, we’ve taken that ethos and expanded it — bringing in bold new flavours, local produce, and dishes that will surprise and satisfy in equal measure.
The new menu is live now, and we can’t wait for you to try it. Whether it’s soft shell crab and a glass of Albariño, or steak and a bold Rioja, there’s something new for everyone at Bodega 1830.
