Looking for a light, lively red that breaks free of expectations? Meet Mas Candí Cabòries — a spirited blend from Penedès, Catalonia, where sun-drenched vineyards, organic farming, and a joyfully minimal approach to winemaking come together in a playful glass.
Cabòries is a rare hybrid of Sumoll and Mandó (both red), balanced with the bright backbone of Xarel·lo (a classic white from the region) — each around a third of the bottle. Sumoll brings fresh red fruit and acidity; Mandó adds structure and depth; Xarel·lo injects lift and brightness. These native grapes, grown organically, express the terroir of Avinyonet del Penedès with honesty and charm.
Cabòries is made the Mas Candí way — biodynamic, minimal-intervention, and often without added sulfur. The grapes are co-fermented, often with partial stem inclusion, and aged briefly (around two months) in old oak barrels before bottling unfiltered. The result is a wine that’s playful, light-bodied, and bursting with life.
Expect zippy red fruit — think poached strawberries, wild raspberries, and fresh cranberries — with hints of plum, red licorice, and floral spice. It’s youthful, crunchy, and easy on the palate, with soft tannins and a bright finish.
Perfect chilled on its own, but it also shines alongside tapas — charred pork, grilled mushrooms, or a simple steak. It’s especially great with pork belly or smoked chorizo nachos, making it a natural pour at Bodega 1830.
Cabòries sums up exactly what we look for in a wine: rooted in tradition, lightly experimental, and inviting without being complicated. For €12–14, it’s an everyday bottle with personality — cheeky, natural-leaning, and unfussy. That’s wine you can drink with abandon, whether you’re sharing plates or catching up at the bar.
